The Value of AVOL’s Service

Burmese Street Art Raising HIV Awareness

AVOL collaborates with communities to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS and to empower those affected.

Our annual operating budget is just over a million dollars, and less than 15% goes to administrative costs.  That means AVOL puts your generous contributions to work serving over 350 low-income families living with HIV/AIDS in 72 counties in central and eastern Kentucky.  We also provide HIV education and outreach to people at risk for HIV in the communities we serve.

Think about this:

For less than $1 dollar AVOL can provide someone with a ‘free’ safe sex kit and provide education on how to avoid contracting HIV.

A ‘free’ HIV test equals roughly $20.

In comparison, projected lifetime medical costs for a person with HIV (once in care) can exceed $385,000.  When low-income individuals can’t pay, health care costs increase for everyone.

Prevention is a smart, economic alternative to prolonged medical costs, yet prevention funding is being cut up to 25% in the upcoming year.

AVOL must  rely increasinglyon the communities we serve to value and help fund HIV prevention efforts.

Times are tough for everyone.

For low-income families struggling with HIV/AIDS, that can mean making a choice between medication and food, the electric bill, or clothes for the kids.

AVOL steps in to help when no one else can or will.

Every dollar you contribute makes an important difference in the lives of the people we serve.

A $20 donation =  a ‘free’ HIV/AIDS test for someone at risk who doesn’t know their status.

A $50 donation =  a trip to the doctor for a person with AIDS in rural eastern Kentucky who has to travel to Lexington for medical appointments.

A $100 donation =  a bill that makes sure a single mother living with HIV has running water.

A $500 donation =  rent to maintain a safe, stable home for a family struggling with HIV/AIDS.

HIV impacts those in our communities who are most vulnerable and at greatest risk for basic human survival.  AVOL helps empower families with HIV/AIDS to stabilize housing, employment, and access to care.  To provide these services, AVOL relies on the private donations of people just like you.

Please give generously today.
