AIDS Volunteers, Inc. Board of Directors nominates Macy’s (Lexington, KY) for the 2017 Lexington Fairness Business Impact Award.
Macy’s has provided sponsorship and volunteer support for AVOL’s Dining Out For Life for the past 6 years; raising critical funds in support of those in our community living with HIV. Always ready to lend a hand, Macy’s and its employees take an active role in AVOL’s mission of helping to stop the spread of HIV in Central and Eastern Kentucky and empower those affected.
With a perfect score of 100% on the Human Rights Campaign 2017 Corporate Equality Index, Macy’s continues its dedication to the fundamentals of diversity, inclusion and respect for all; Nationally and right here in Lexington.
Pride + Joy: General Managers, Michael Nold and his predecessor, Tom Bruenderman, and their respective associate teams have been walking with the LGBT community in Lexington for many years through their support and sponsorship for PRIDE Festival and other efforts and lending associates to volunteer in service to our community. Broadly, Macy’s contributes to many worthy philanthropic causes throughout the community including United Way of the Bluegrass and American Heart Association’s Wear Red For Women. But, with its commitment to organizations like AIDS Volunteers (AVOL), Pride Community Services Organization, Lexington Pride Festival and many others, we fully understand Macy’s commitment, sensitivity, concern and direct action to ensure that our community is welcoming and inclusive of everyone.
